Love is Learnable

Hi, I’m Grace.

Certified Laura Doyle Relationship Coach and Recovering Control Freak.

At 36, I was still stuck in a pattern of painful relationship breakdowns. By this point I had a long history of failed relationships; with verbal, emotional, and even physical abuse as part of the breakdowns. People told me I was a great girl and I just needed to meet the right guy, I thought this sounded like a fair assessment. I deeply wanted to find my person and have a chance at family.

When my husband and I started dating I was so excited, we had known each other for many years and I knew what a good, true, and kind soul he was. I had received a lot of very great counseling and I knew how to have a healthy relationship, so this should be smooth sailing. But, the painfully familiar patterns arose - tension, distance, and a painful wall limiting our connection. I was convinced that the disconnect was due to “avoidant” patterns and I tried everything I knew to do to fix it, told him how I felt, but I seemed to only make things worse. I felt desperate for him to draw close to me and give me the security I craved.

A friend suggested the work of Laura Doyle and as I consumed her material my relationship history unfolded before my eyes. I felt so seen and held. Understanding washed over me and I could now grasp why the distance was present in my relationship. And better yet, I now had a clear path to find the connection I craved and a restored hope that I could have a different story. I started my journey by reading the book, The Empowered Wife, and later decided to work with a private coach because I felt I needed support for a deeper transformation. I learned the power of my tongue - to build him up and speak life over him versus give into my fearful tendencies and speak death. I learned that, as a woman, I am the keeper of the relationship; my emotional brilliance can light a path toward the relationship of my dreams. I stretched to let my authentic self be known and let my defenses down. I learned how to love deeper, more unconditionally. As I walked this new path, I learned powerful skills for creating a loving and intimate relationship. The distance vanished. And I found out just how capable my man is of deep connection and just what kind of a hero I had chosen as a husband.

These days my fears of disconnect and loneliness are no where in sight. Oh, the sweetness! I am showered with love and affection, it is delicious. We love dancing together and he makes me feel like the only person in the whole world. He takes such good care of me and our joined life, always leading home projects and our family’s path forward. I feel desired and pursued. I am most definitely spoiled. It feels like more than I deserve, more than I ever could have dreamed of receiving in this life.

Why I Coach

I became a Laura Doyle certified relationship coach because this approach changed my life and I can’t help but deeply desire to share with every woman what is possible for her and what she can unlock with the power of her femininity. It is my honor to stand for her, to walk alongside as she navigates her own journey and uncovers all that can be in store for her. I know what it feels like to be without a path toward the dream of a fulfilling relationship, it is defeating and tiresome. And I know the peace and deep joy of walking the path of restoration.

I want to tell you, the path is gentle and beautiful. Come and join me, we can walk together.
